Aiming to help professionals who plan to pursue their graduate education especially in the province of Aklan, Filamer Christian University entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Garcia College of Technology (GCT), to hold her Graduate School extension classes starting second semester of Academic Year 2017 - 2018.
The signing of the MOA took place last September 4 at FCU which was represented by the dean of the Graduate Studies, Dr. Felimon Pimentel, Jr.; Dr. Minnie Chan, Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Dr. George Cortel, University President. Meanwhile, GCT was represented by Mr. Edwin Garcia, GCT President; Dr. Arnulfo Distor, Vice President; and Mrs. Distor.
Programs to be offered are Filamer's Master of Arts in Teaching and Master in Business Administration which cover all majors, since these are not offered at GCT. Moreover, manpower, resources, and expertise will be shared by FCU and GCT in terms of learning materials and environment, instructional aids and objects, teaching strategies to be used in the conduct of extension classes during weekends.
Prior to the finalization of the Agreement, the FCU key personnel visited GCT at Kalibo, Aklan, and also toured around the campus and checked the physical plant and facilities to be used during classes.
It can be noted that the influx of students coming from Aklan has increased and reached to 105, all of them either doctorate or masters degree students who travel every weekend to FCU just to attend their classes. Holding extension classes at GCT will help lessen the students' travel expenses, and will spare them of too much exhaustion.
FCU extension classes will be held at the GCT campus in Kalibo, Aklan, starting second semester of 2017. Tentative schedule of enrollment will be on November 4 and 11, while the orientation is on November 18. Classes will begin on November 25.
Programs offered are:
- Master of Business Administration
Majors: Hospitality Management, General Business Administration
- Master of Arts in Teaching
Majors: English, Mathematics, General Science, Social Science, Filipino, Physical Education, Early Childhood Education, Special Education
