She is our featured alumna. She is Dr. Jinky Lynn Benliro-Contreras.
Raised in Pontevedra, Capiz, by her parents, retired professor Ronilo Bisnar Benliro and retired teacher Norly Bulaquiña Benliro, Dr. Contreras finished her elementary education with honors at Bailan Elementary School. She then proceeded to Filamer Christian College to pursue her secondary education. During her high school days at Filamer, her beauty was lauded as she was crowned with two titles in just one year -- Miss High School at the same time Miss Filamer 1984. She was also one of the active students of her batch and graduated with honors.
After graduating in high school, she went to Iloilo Doctors' College to pursue Bachelor of Science in Nursing and graduated in 1991. In 2000, she finished her Master in Public Administration at Panay State Polytechnic College in Pontevedra, Capiz. She was then absorbed by Capiz State University as Clinical Instructor in the year 2003 until 2005. The following year until 2007, she became Clinical Coordinator of the College of Nursing of the same university. It was also October of 2007 that she finished her Master of Arts in Nursing at Central Philippine University in Iloilo City. From 2007 to date, she is the Research Coordinator of the College.
Her determination to pursue post graduate studies paid off as she graduated her Doctor of Philosophy major in Development Administration and was awarded Best Reseacher at Philippine Christian University, April 2008. With her qualification at hand, she was elevated as Dean of the College of Nursing of Capiz State University from 2010 until 2014. Since 2015 until the present, she is the TESDA Institutional Representative of the University.
While pursuing professional development, Dr. Contreras became recipient of several scholarships such as Faculty Development Program for her master's and doctorate degrees. She is also a TESDA Health Care Services NCII and TESDA Training Methodology graduate making her a TESDA Assessor.
Aside from pursuing professional growth, she also actively participates in different socio-civic organizations such as national Vice President of the Association Internationale Des Charities - Philippines.
Being exposed to politics and whose husband is a public servant, she has a share of experiences serving the society. She once served as Executive Secretary to the Governor for seven years, and designated Tourism Officer of the municipality of Pontevedra. She is also president of tourism officers in the province, and became National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Coordinator for Western Visayas.
She is happily married to former Mayor Esteban Jose Bacero Contreras of Pontevedra and blessed with three children namely: Esteban Ronilo, Evahnna Gaille, and Esteban Evan III.
She is indeed a beauty with many facets. She is a beauty who is always on the go. She is a Filamerian. She is Dr. Jinky Lynn Benliro-Contreras.
