Hally Briones - Andrada
She was an orator, a declaimer, and dramatist during her college days. She was one of the cream of the crop during her time. She is our featured alumna. She is Mrs. Hally Briones-Andrada.
The eldest of the four from the modest family of Ruben Briones and Monina Billones, Hally saw the new light of dawn on the 29th of January, 1960.
Being one of the finest in her class, she graduated class historian in elementary and high school. During her college days at Filamer Christian Institute, she was elected president of the Liberal Arts Department and of the Students' Assistance Committee in school and in provincial level. In 1980, she finished her Bachelor of Arts degree major in Economics with flying colors, Magna Cum Laude, at Filamer Christian Institute. With her exemplary performance in co-curricular activities, she was also the recipient of Leadership Award and Philippine Information Agency's Iwag Award.
She has passed government-regulated examinations such as the Civil Service Exam (Sub-professional) after her second year in college which gave her an eligibility proper to graduation in college. She also passed the Civil Service Exam (Professional level) after college. She is also a Presidential Decree 907-eligible and a Professional Teachers' Board Examination passer.
Because of her civil service eligibility, she landed a job at the City Engineer's Office two weeks after graduation. After a month, she was employed at the Bureau of Treasury, Capiz Field Office. She found office work monotonous and unchallenging and so she worked as a part-time teacher at Filamer for two semesters. In order to grow professionally, she pursued her Accounting and Master's degree in Education at CPC. In 1983, she got married to William Andrada, Jr., and on the same year, transferred to Capiz National High School as a secondary school teacher.
Seventeen years after her marriage, she was blessed with a daughter who is now a Grade 10 DOST scholar at Philippine Science High School. Just like her mother, the daughter is also an achiever as she was recently recognized PRISAAP Most Outstanding Private School Pupil of Western Visayas, and chosen city girl councilor of Iloilo City in the 2016 Rotary Club's Search for Boy and Girl Leaders.
Included in Mrs. Andrada's string of accomplishments are: winning coach of the YMCA Ten Outstanding Students of Western Visayas, winning coach of the Noli de Castro Outstanding Students of the Philippines, winning coach of the Rotary Club of Metro Roxas' Search for Boy and Girl Leaders, Hall of Fame Coach in the Rotary Club Metro Roxas' Academic Challenge, adviser and moderator of Project Citizen, Philippines - Capiz Chapter, Brigada Eskwela Coordinator, Top 3 Regional Winner for three consecutive years, Member of school-based management committee, Trainor and Testing Coordinator in Araling Panlipunan, Outstanding Teacher Awardee, and an accomplished coach in academic, extemporaneous and oratorical contests at various levels.
Mrs. Andrada has gone through various positions: Secondary School Master Teacher II, Senior High School HUMSS Coordinator, and Officer-in-Charge of the Social Studies Department of the same school, Capiz National High School.
